August 9, 2000 - The Coral Sea scrapping ended in Baltimore when a huge steam shovel pulling on one end and a tug boat pushing on the other end brought the last eighty feet of the ship out of the water for good.
August 9, 1983 - USS Coral Sea stemed in to the Caribbean Sea, arriving in waters off Nicaragua to counter Soviet arm shipments , showing presence off the coasts of South and Central America near Nicaragua,

Membership to the USS CORAL SEA CVA-43 ASSOCIATION is open to all Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force personnel who served aboard the ship USS CORAL SEA (CV/CVB/CVA-43).
