July 18, 1962 - While on their honeymoon, Prince Juan Carlos of Spain and Princess Sophia of Greece visited the ship while she was anchored in San Francisco Bay.
July 18, 1975 - Captain Joseph F. Frick assumes command of the USS Coral Sea.
July 18, 1968 - Carrier suitability tests took place on USS Coral Sea for the Royal Navy version of the Phantom II, the F-4K.
Membership to the USS CORAL SEA CVA-43 ASSOCIATION is open to all Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force personnel who served aboard the ship USS CORAL SEA (CV/CVB/CVA-43).
