March 7, 1946 - CV-43 under construction at Newport News Ship Building - Flight Deck Laid.
March 7, 1949 - USS Coral Sea conducted carrier qualification landings with CVG-2. The air group's pilots commented that CORAL SEA was the best operating carrier they had ever observed.
March 7, 1978 - CORAL SEA moved to Bremerton, Washington and the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for an eleven month $80 million overhaul.

Membership to the USS CORAL SEA CVA-43 ASSOCIATION is open to all Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force personnel who served aboard the ship USS CORAL SEA (CV/CVB/CVA-43).
