✪ Coral Sea History ✪
August 6, 1948 - Coral Sea returns to Norfolk after completeing the Midshipman Cruise.
August 6, 1975 - The ship entered Long Beach Naval Shipyard for a nine month Extended Selected Restricted Availability. The ship's hull, boilers, and machinery received extensive work to offset the degradation in her material condition caused by the high tempo of Vietnam operations.
